Book Review: Staying Strong for Smokey

I won a copy of "Staying Strong for Smokey" from Cat Chat With Caren and Cody awhile ago, but I honestly didn't want to open it up! Just thinking about a child losing a beloved cat is heartbreaking.

However, "Staying Strong" is well-written and illustrated, and straightforward; your cat is very ill, and needs to be released from further pain.  Adults can rationalize all they want, but children think differently, and will use this book to help them to understand that their pet is dying.

The author is Cody and Dakota's own veterinarian at DePorre Veterinary Hospital in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.  Along with "Staying Strong", Dr. Gut penned "Being Brave for Bailey", which is for dog-lovers.  For those of you with human AND fur-covered children, these books are for you!
